May- The Trojan War

Long ago, when Sully and Tucker studied Greek history, we reenacted the Trojan War in our backyard with a bunch of sword-hungry little boys. Since we are on round 2, with Drew Preston and Ellie, we decided to do it again! We put the word out among our homeschool friends, built a Trojan horse, and invited everyone to a day of battle, feast and Olympics. It was so much fun until a spring thunderstorm came and quenched the Olympiads. Thankfully it was at the end of our event so it ended with lots of scurrying and laughter.
Here is our horse:
Paris comes to Greece to kidnap the fair Helen.

She doesn't look too distressed, thank goodness. (Actually, there were lots of volunteers.)

Greece races to save fair lady.

The battle its on!

We used everything in our arsenal as weapons, Vision Forum swords, plastic swords, pool noodles sticks, and yes, light sabers.

Jesse the Valiant.

Love Lucia's hair.

Note the intense concentration of my son.

They are having WAY too much fun!

Love how everyone smiles through the battles.

Moms and unwilling to fight maidens.

A downed hero.

Another fallen comrade.

Had to drag him off the field.

Time to fool the Trojans!

A lovely guard.

The feast is on! Everyone brought a Greek inspired dish. It was all so good!

Rachael provided some Greek tunes for entertainment at the meal.

Olympiads at the ready.

The Potato-Put was very popular.

The Greek Queen. Ha.

Just before the storm hit. I didn't get any pictures of the chaos. Too much scurrying. :)
